As the eldest child, I am used to taking care of everyone and being the strong one for the family. But in 2022, my world crumbled. I lost the sibling right after me to this devastating illness. We did everything we could, but they were still taken from us. Up to this day, I carry the pain of that loss. A Renewed Fight Against Leukemia
Recently, it felt like cold water was poured over me when I received the news. One of my closest friends was also diagnosed with leukemia. The same illness. The same enemy. All the memories and sorrow came rushing back, but along with it is a fierce desire to battle this disease—hoping that this time, the story will have a different ending.
I cannot bear to lose another life. I continuously pray that one day, a cure will finally be found and these types of illnesses will be resolved, so that no other family or group of friends has to go through this agonizing ordeal. Organizations like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society are working tirelessly toward this, but the fight against leukemia requires the support of all of us.
